House of The Holy

I don’t really feel like writing much tonight. I should just let it go and not even post, but updating this fucking thing daily has become compulsive.

So I’m just going to up this picture here. I took it the other day with my new camera. It’s just this old church next to a mini mart on Main street. It’s up on a little hill and there’s a neat eroded stairway going up to it. It might be abandoned, I dunno. I’ve never seen anybody near it. I just thought it looked interesting because of the plants growing all over the place. One of those “nature/chaos wins again” things I like to take pictures of.

All the photos I’ve taken with my new camera look like shit when I hit them with an HDR filter in GIMP . I’ve tried backing off the saturation and lightening and fucking with the contrast afterwards, but they still don’t come back well. This one I just sharpened up a bit and increased the saturation a hair then hit it with a ProviaFX filter. It didn’t really need it, I just wanted to fuck around. And by “didn’t really need it”, I’m not saying it was an epic photo. It’s just a snapshot I took on my way to buy smokes.

  1. I’ll go ahead and say it’s an epic photo. Dude, are you kidding? It’s a fucking beautiful picture! Maybe a lot of shit you didn’t mean to happen is happening in this photo. Okay, like the light solar flare in the upper left, in the tree tops. I’m sure you didn’t stand around waiting for the sun to get just there. You have smokes to get, for fuck’s sake. Can’t just be standing around. You just looked and took it, but what’s come out is a real work of art. That light little touch of sunlight adds a lot of narrative to this photo. The lilac and green combo anchored by the red doors, Fuckin’ A.
